The Council of Ministers has declared 96 villages across the country as drought-affected for the 2023-24 grain production season.

The Council of Ministers has declared 96 villages across the country as drought-affected for the 2023-24 grain production season.

The villages, listed in the Official Gazette, include 37 in Nicosia District, 21 in Famagusta District, 9 in Kyrenia District, 16 in Omorfo District, and 13 in Lefke District. Notably, there are no drought-affected villages in İskele District.

The decision, based on the General Agricultural Insurance Fund's Board of Directors' decision No. 32/2024, includes a drought map covering areas cultivated with grains such as barley, wheat, oats, forage crops, and legumes like chickpeas and lentils.
