Tatar in Warsaw: "Federal-Based Negotiations Are Exhausted"
President Ersin Tatar attended a reception hosted by Turkey's Ambassador to Poland, Rauf Alp Denktaş, in Warsaw, emphasizing that negotiations based on a federal framework have reached their conclusion after over 50 years.
Held at the Turkish Embassy in Warsaw, the event was attended by numerous Turkish and Turkish Cypriot businesspeople.
Honoring Founding President Denktaş
In his speech, President Tatar extended greetings to the business community in Warsaw and expressed gratitude to Ambassador Rauf Alp Denktaş, the grandson of Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş, for his hospitality. “We honor the memory of our Founding President with respect,” Tatar said.
Strengthening Ties with the Diaspora
Tatar noted his meetings with Polish tourism officials during his visit and highlighted the unity of Turkish Cypriots worldwide:
“Wherever we are in the world—be it London, Sydney, Melbourne, New York, or Berlin—our hearts beat as one. The unity and achievements of our businesspeople in various sectors showcase not only the strength of Turkey but also of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).”
Encouraging businesspeople to visit and invest in the TRNC, Tatar said the country has made significant progress in tourism, higher education, construction, and agriculture despite the "unfair and inhumane isolation imposed on us."
Advocating a Two-State Solution
President Tatar reiterated his call for a realistic and sustainable resolution in Cyprus, based on a two-state model supported by Turkey. He stated that the long-standing federal-based negotiation process has been exhausted.
He also underlined the significance of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's calls at the United Nations General Assembly sessions for international recognition of the TRNC and an end to the isolation of the Turkish Cypriot people.
Tatar concluded by thanking the business community for attending the reception.
