Four Traffic Accidents Leave Four Injured, One Arrested

Four individuals were injured and one person was arrested following four separate traffic accidents in Nicosia and Famagusta over the past two days.

In the first incident, early this morning in Nicosia, 38-year-old Gürel Erecer collided with another vehicle on Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard after driving under the influence of alcohol. Erecer failed to stop at a red light, crashing into a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Uğur Öget. No injuries were reported, but Erecer was arrested for driving under the influence and causing the accident.

The second accident occurred yesterday at 7:30 AM on the Inönü Junction of the Nicosia-Famagusta road. 40-year-old Nejla Tekin, driving a YB 418 vehicle, entered the main road without yielding to oncoming traffic, causing a collision with a vehicle driven by 31-year-old Firdevs Alganer. Both drivers were injured, and Alganer was treated for a rib fracture at Famagusta State Hospital.

A third accident took place yesterday around noon on Fidan Street in Famagusta. 31-year-old Abdullah Hüseyinoğulları, riding a parked motorcycle, made a careless U-turn, colliding with 22-year-old Eren Alp Kıvrak’s motorcycle. Both riders were injured, with Hüseyinoğulları suffering a broken leg.

The fourth incident occurred last night at 11:00 PM on Haydar Aliyev Street in Nicosia. A hit-and-run driver, later identified as 36-year-old Cesur Dinç, lost control of his vehicle and struck a parked car. Dinç fled the scene but was later located, and legal proceedings have begun against him.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accidents.
