Speaking to the crowd, Stefanu emphasized that Cyprus should belong to its people, not foreign powers or military alliances such as NATO. "We want a Cyprus as a bridge of peace, not a war base," he stated. He warned that the presence of foreign military forces on the island only exacerbates risks and threats, urging the government to inform the public about military agreements with the U.S. and NATO.

Stefanu also condemned Israel's attacks on Gaza, criticizing the Cypriot government's silence as "unacceptable." He posed the question, "How many more children must die before the government takes a stand?"

He reiterated that Cyprus should adhere to its policy of neutrality, advocating for a Cyprus free of foreign military bases, living in peace and independence.

Protesters chanted slogans such as "No to war, yes to peace," expressing their opposition to the government's stance.
