MP Hasan Tosunoğlu Resigns from Democratic Party
Democratic Party (DP) MP Hasan Tosunoğlu has announced his resignation from the party, citing dissatisfaction with its current leadership and governance approach. He stated that he will continue his duties as an independent MP.
In a statement shared on social media, Tosunoğlu criticized the party for straying from its founding principles. Once solution-oriented, dynamic, and constructive, the party, he said, has now become "silent, apolitical, and passive."
"I have voiced my concerns in every possible setting, but my complaints have been ignored," Tosunoğlu remarked. He emphasized that during his tenure, he never made personal demands and even declined ministerial offers.
"The expectation of being a passive MP who simply raises and lowers his hand without having his opinions heard is intolerable to me," he said. "Despite my efforts, I could not bring about a change in the prevailing mindset. I have no other choice at this stage."
Tosunoğlu affirmed his commitment to serving his constituents with responsibility, pledging to support government initiatives that benefit the country.
Although leaving the Democratic Party, Tosunoğlu expressed his intention to continue working alongside his former colleagues, concluding, "I will remain steadfast in being an MP who listens to the people and represents their voice in Parliament."
