Speaking on BRT, Erhürman addressed early election calls, the internal crisis within the coalition, and the country's pressing issues.

Highlighting the coalition's instability, Erhürman pointed to Re-Birth Party (YDP) leader Erhan Arıklı's recent call for early elections. “This is the first time we see a coalition partner openly calling for elections,” Erhürman said, noting the silence from the National Unity Party (UBP) in response. He added, “Parliamentary sessions have exposed their internal crisis. Despite claiming to have the support of 29 MPs, they failed to reach 26 votes across 15 rounds. This government is a burden on the public, and change is urgently needed.”

"Social Media Governed During the Storm"

Criticizing the administration's handling of crises, Erhürman referred to a recent storm, saying, “While the police, fire brigade, civil defense, and municipalities were on the ground, there was no single statement from the so-called government. Not even district crisis centers were established. During this period, the country was effectively governed through social media.”

He also touched on a tragic incident involving a newborn at a hospital, stating, “The Police Chief contradicted the minister’s account. This government has caused such disasters yet continues to claim authority. The country is not being governed.”

"CTP is Ready to Lead"

Outlining CTP’s ambitions, Erhürman declared, “CTP is on the path to sole governance. Our early election demands are clear, and we are ready to lead this country.” He criticized the declining state of key economic sectors, including construction, tourism, and higher education, noting, “The construction sector is in significant decline, tourism revenues have dropped, and the challenges in higher education are evident. Economic flow from south to north has reversed, with daily costs in the north now higher than in Italy.”

"Playing for Extra Time"

Referencing Arıklı’s call for elections, Erhürman accused the government of prolonging its tenure while neglecting solutions. “This structure claims 29 MPs’ support but cannot manage the country. They are playing for extra time, wasting the people’s time. The 2025 budget cannot continue this way. For three years, no progress has been made on population policy or a census. This government must step aside.”

On Cyprus negotiations, Erhürman welcomed multilateral talks but stressed that the Turkish Cypriot community risks losing its political agency. “We are ready to sit at the table, but there will be no return to the status quo. Political equality must be pre-agreed, negotiations should be timed, and endless delays will not be accepted. If the table collapses due to the other side’s foot-dragging, we will not revert to the previous status quo,” he concluded.
