Letimbiotis: Date for Five-Party Meeting on Cyprus Issue Not Yet Set
Greek Cypriot government spokesperson Konstantinos Letimbiotis stated that no date has been set for the expanded five-party meeting on the Cyprus issue, but preparations are ongoing, with a visit by UN Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo anticipated.
According to Fileleftheros, Letimbiotis commented on President Ersin Tatar's recent claims about a potential multilateral meeting at the end of January, noting that the Greek Cypriot side has not received any message from the UN confirming the timing.
Letimbiotis reiterated that while preparations for the meeting are underway, holding such a meeting is not an end in itself. The aim is to create momentum for restarting negotiations from where they left off and advancing the Cyprus issue.
He also confirmed ongoing communication between the Greek Cypriot government and the UN, though no specific dates for DiCarlo's visit have been shared.
Regarding potential new crossing points, Letimbiotis mentioned that preliminary work is being carried out by negotiators, but no date has been set for a meeting between President Nikos Christodoulides and President Tatar on the matter.
