The association’s president, Ruşen Yücesoylu Karakaya, emphasized their unwavering commitment to justice for the 72 victims who lost their lives in the hotel collapse.

“Justice for the 72 lives lost in Isias Hotel must be served, and it must reflect probable intent,” Karakaya stated. “As families, we will continue our fight tirelessly until the necessary justice is achieved.”

High-Level Meetings in Ankara

The delegation, led by Ombudsman Varol, met separately with Turkey’s Chief Ombudsman Şeref Malkoç and the President of the Turkish Human Rights and Equality Institution, Prof. Dr. Muharrem Kılıç.

During these meetings, Karakaya presented copies of the book Trace in Hearts: 35 Champion Angels, authored by journalist Nezire Gürkan, which recounts the tragic events and their aftermath.

“Our Shared Cause”

Reflecting on their ongoing efforts, Karakaya told BRT that they have fought relentlessly for two years to seek justice for their children. “From day one, we declared ‘Isias is our shared cause,’ and that was our focus during these meetings,” she said.

She added, “Our fifth hearing is on December 3 at Adıyaman’s 3rd Heavy Penal Court. We know we are not alone. Together, we are strong. Justice for our Champion Angels, their guides, and the 72 victims will be achieved.”
