Erhürman: "Our First Task in Government Will Be a Census"

Speaking on Muazzez Gazihan’s program on Haber Kıbrıs Web TV, Erhürman criticized the governance of the past 4.5 years, stating that numerous problems have rapidly surfaced under the current administration.

He highlighted the strain on infrastructure, particularly in the education sector, due to post-pandemic construction and population growth. "Our schools are no longer sufficient. The use of container classrooms is not solely because they are earthquake-resistant but also because existing school buildings are inadequate for the rising population," Erhürman explained.

Addressing the political landscape, he described a pervasive "mindset problem," citing resignations within the government and early election calls from smaller coalition partners. Erhürman reiterated his call for early elections, stating, "The only way to change this mindset is through an election, and that decision lies with the people."

Erhürman stressed that planning and infrastructure have not kept pace with population growth. "Our first action in government will be to conduct a comprehensive census," he affirmed, underlining the necessity of accurate population data for effective planning.
