Police revealed in court that M.C.S., U.Y., and S.D. were detained on charges of "Illegal Possession of Firearms and Explosives" and "Conspiracy to Commit a Crime" after the weapon was found. Acting on a tip-off, authorities located a black Sig Sauer P228 pistol with a magazine and nine 9mm bullets hidden in a flowerpot outside a café on Atatürk Avenue.

Security footage from the area identified M.C.S. as the individual who left the firearm at the scene. Following this, police searched M.C.S.'s hotel room and discovered another firearm, a black Pietro Beretta 7.65mm pistol, along with two magazines and 20 live rounds.

During questioning, M.C.S. admitted to retrieving the Beretta pistol from a vehicle registered to U.Y. upon receiving its location via text message. U.Y. was subsequently arrested and claimed to have lent the car to S.D., who was also detained. S.D. stated that he had driven to Kyrenia with a friend using U.Y.'s vehicle.

Investigators allege that the suspects conspired to kill a businessperson in northern Cyprus, with M.C.S. reportedly arriving in the region specifically for this purpose, aided by U.Y. and S.D., who provided the firearms.

The case, deemed a serious matter under the jurisdiction of the Assize Court, remains under investigation. Police cited ongoing evidence collection, including fingerprint and ballistic analyses, and requested a three-day detention period for the suspects. Judge Evren Mürsel approved the request, and the suspects will remain in custody as the inquiry continues.
