Gürcafer: We Will Not Stand By as the Construction Sector Collapses
Cafer Gürcafer, President of the Cyprus Turkish Building Contractors Association (KTİMB), has criticized authorities for their indifference as the construction sector and the national economy face a rapid downturn. He emphasized that necessary steps would be decided today.
"Do not expect us to remain passive while the construction sector and over 100 related sub-sectors are being driven to collapse," Gürcafer stated, announcing that the association’s decision-making bodies would convene to take action.
In his statement, Gürcafer noted:
"Our goodwill has been exploited. Our constructive approaches have not led to solutions but have only encouraged indifference. While we expect our officials to gather around a crisis table, their foreign trips seem never-ending.
For six months, the construction sector and the country’s economy have been in free fall. We have called for urgent measures and strategic steps, yet political priorities and disregard remain unchanged. We understand external pressures, but the harm we inflict upon ourselves is incomprehensible.
No one should expect us to stand by and watch the collapse of the construction sector and its related industries. Today, our executive bodies will meet to make decisions and take the necessary steps."
