Two Traffic Accidents in Famagusta Injure Pedestrian

Two traffic accidents occurred in Famagusta yesterday, with one pedestrian sustaining injuries.

According to a police press release, the first accident took place on İsmet İnönü Boulevard at around 7:00 PM. Levent Şemmedi (63), driving the SG 487 plate truck, collided with Ayşegül Özçelik (45) as she attempted to cross the road on foot near the Anıt Roundabout. The pedestrian, Özçelik, was injured and was taken to the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia for treatment in the Surgical Department.

Carelessness Leads to Accident

In another accident at 10:30 PM, Umut Gündüz (40), driving the MT 906 plate vehicle, entered Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı Street from the main road without yielding to oncoming traffic. At the same time, Şeydanur Tunç (26), driving the ND 804 plate vehicle under the influence of 116 milligrams of alcohol, collided with Gündüz's car. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the crash.

The police investigation into both accidents is ongoing.
