The Cyprus Turkish Civil Servants Trade Union (KTAMS), Cyprus Turkish Public Servants Union (KAMUSEN), Public Workers Union (KAMU-İŞ), and Equal Rights and Justice Union (HAKSEN) are on strike at the Nicosia District Land Registry Office due to unresolved issues related to personnel, equipment, and infrastructure.

The unions held a press conference in front of the office, stating that if no action is taken to resolve the problems by the end of the workday, they will continue the strike tomorrow.

Bengihan: "This is a Golden Goose"

KTAMS President Güven Bengihan recalled that the strike at the Nicosia District Land Registry started a month ago, and although some steps had been taken to address the issues, these steps were insufficient. He pointed out the lack of personnel, equipment, and technical infrastructure at the office, stressing that if services are disrupted, the state would also fail to collect the required fees.

Bengihan stated, "This is a golden goose," emphasizing that the relevant ministry and government must take good care of the Nicosia District Land Registry. He criticized the Personnel Department for not approving the opening of positions for permanent staff with signing authority, pointing out the need for more permanent and core staff at the office. He also warned that if no action is taken by the end of the day, the strike will continue tomorrow.

Bengihan reminded that the strike had begun a month ago, and although some steps had been taken to address the issues, these measures were insufficient. He emphasized that if services were delayed, the state would not be able to collect the required fees. Bengihan called for the relevant ministry and government to take better care of the office, stating, "This is the golden egg-laying chicken."

He also criticized the Personnel Department for not approving the opening of a position for the staff needed to sign documents. Bengihan stressed the need for permanent staff and warned that if no progress is made by the end of the day, the strike would continue the next day.
