"I regret my decision to step away," he admitted during an interview on Gündem Kıbrıs Web TV with Bahar Sancar.
Commenting on the recent resignation of DP MP Hasan Tosunoğlu, Denktaş said that while DP once served as a balancing party with the right policies, it has now lost this role.
“I have no intention of becoming an MP, but the circumstances are forcing me into it. The state needs individuals who understand its workings and act with awareness. Whether I enter or not, I regret my decision to leave,” Denktaş remarked.
"I Have No Plans to Reassume DP Leadership"
Denktaş also clarified that he has no intention of returning as DP leader but will provide guidance to help the party adopt more effective policies.
"I Am Considering Running for President"
Addressing a potential presidential bid, Denktaş expressed his interest but stated that he has not yet made a final decision. He added that if he decides to run, he will seek support by meeting with all political parties, indicating that his stance will become clearer in the coming months.
