11 Fires and 32 Emergency Incidents Reported Last Week

A total of 11 fires and 32 emergency service incidents occurred across the TRNC between December 9-15, according to a statement by the Fire Department. The fires resulted in damages estimated at 2.6 million TL.

Of the fires, four were reported in Nicosia, three in Vadili, two in Famagusta, one in Güzelyurt, and one in Çağlayan. Meanwhile, emergency service incidents were recorded in Nicosia (14), Kyrenia (9), Famagusta (4), İskele (3), Güzelyurt (1), and Yeşilköy (1).

The probable causes of the fires included electrical short circuits, fuel leaks, overloaded electrical installations, ignition of gasoline used to light wood stoves, and deliberate burning.

The emergency incidents ranged from rescuing a cat stranded on a roof, taking precautionary measures against fires, rescuing individuals trapped in elevators and vehicles after traffic accidents, providing fire safety training, and transporting deceased individuals to hospitals for judicial investigations.
