Turkey Lowers Customs Duty on Goods from TRNC to EU Levels
Goods transported from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to Turkey, whether accompanied by passengers or shipped via cargo, will now be subject to a single and fixed customs duty rate equivalent to that applied to European Union (EU) countries.
Under a decision by the Turkish Presidency, the tax rates on goods from the TRNC have been revised. Previously, goods from the TRNC were taxed at a 60% single and fixed customs rate.
The new regulation stipulates that goods meeting the criteria outlined in Article 6 of the Implementation Agreement on the Regulation of Trade Relations between Turkey and the TRNC will now be taxed at 30%, matching the rate applied to goods arriving directly from EU countries.
This adjustment applies to items brought into Turkey by passengers, postal services, or expedited cargo transport from the TRNC.
