Hasipoğlu to Greek Cypriot Leader: If You Want Win-Win, Stop Competing for Roles
UBP (National Unity Party) Secretary-General Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu stated, "If the Greek Cypriot leader wants a win-win situation, he should stop competing for roles by stepping in front of us and taking photos with the President of Turkey."
Speaking during the discussions on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' budget at the Republic's Parliament, Hasipoğlu emphasized that foreign policy is evolving rapidly.
Referring to the ongoing situation in Syria, Hasipoğlu pointed out, "The internal conflict that lasted for 13 years was resolved in 13 days."
Hasipoğlu noted that, in order to become more visible internationally and make their voices heard, they, along with opposition lawmakers, have important roles to play.
He also discussed the experiences they have had at international meetings, stressing that the Greek Cypriot side does not want to share the island's wealth.
Addressing issues such as direct trade and direct flights, Hasipoğlu stated that there needs to be collective effort to make the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus more visible internationally.
Criticizing the statements of Greek Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, Hasipoğlu declared, "The effective and de facto guarantee of Motherland Turkey is the UBP’s red line."
He added, "If they want a win-win situation, they should stop competing for roles by stepping in front of us and taking photos with the President of Turkey. Since they are now aware of Turkey's power and importance, the time to act is now theirs."
Hasipoğlu concluded that, with a win-win approach, it is now the responsibility of the Greek Cypriot Administration to take the necessary steps.
