Turkish Ministry of National Defense Addresses French Fighter Jet Violation of Northern Cyprus Airspace
The Turkish Ministry of National Defense (MSB) has issued a statement regarding the violation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) airspace by a French fighter jet.
Following a press briefing at the Ministry, MSB sources responded to journalists' questions, stating that the French Military Attaché had been invited to the Ministry and that the sensitivities of the region were conveyed.
The statement reads:
"We are closely monitoring any developments that could pose a threat to the security of the TRNC. We would like to emphasize that French flights in the region are being closely followed and coordinated. In relation to the incident, the French Military Attaché was invited to the Ministry, and our concerns regarding the region were shared. Communication channels remain open, and necessary assessments are being made with our French counterparts. We continue to take the necessary military and political measures to ensure the security of the TRNC and protect its rights and interests against any activities that violate international law. As in the past, we will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety, peace, and well-being of the Turkish Cypriots, under the framework of guarantees and alliance agreements, no matter the cost."
