CHP MP Ertuğrul: Court Decision on İsias Hotel Case Deeply Hurts the Conscience of Society

Eylem Ertuğ Ertuğrul, a Member of Parliament from the Republican People's Party (CHP) in Turkey-Zonguldak, criticized the court's decision regarding the İsias Hotel case, where 72 people lost their lives in the February 6 earthquakes.

Ertuğrul stated that the ruling has "deeply hurt the conscience of society." In a statement on her social media account, she highlighted that expert reports had identified serious construction flaws, neglect, and lack of oversight at the hotel, which directly led to the deaths of 72 people.
"Criminals Have Been Encouraged Again!"
Ertuğrul also criticized the symbolic sentences handed down to the defendants, ranging from 8 to 18 years, and the application of good behavior reductions. "This case is not only about the 72 lives lost in İsias but is one with moral significance for society as a whole," she said. She emphasized that families of the victims cried out to prevent further deaths and lamented that the perpetrators were once again encouraged by the lenient sentencing.
