Restaurant Owner Shot in Nicosia: Suspect Muharrem Lermi Remanded for Three Days

A man suspected of shooting and seriously injuring restaurant owner Ahmet Keskin in Nicosia has been arrested at Ercan Airport and brought before the court. The suspect, Muharrem Lermi, was detained along with a firearm and ammunition.

Muharrem Lermi, the suspect involved in the armed attack on restaurant owner Ahmet Keskin in Nicosia, has been arrested by the police at Ercan Airport and brought to court. Lermi, who was found in possession of a gun and ammunition, is facing charges of attempted murder, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of explosive materials, and shooting in a residential area.

According to the police, on February 23rd at approximately 3:15 PM, Lermi fired a shot with a Glock pistol at the right leg of Ahmet Keskin, the owner of a restaurant located on Şht. Mustafa Ahmet Ruso Street, severely injuring him.

The police also reported that a 9mm cartridge casing was found at the scene, along with a jacket, hat, the gun, and a total of 8 live 9mm bullets, including one in the chamber and seven in the magazine.

Police revealed that Lermi had made certain statements during the investigation, which will be further examined. The gun has been sent for ballistic analysis. The court ruled that Lermi will remain in custody for three days for investigation purposes.
