KIB-TEK: No Issues with Energy Supply, Operations Continue Uninterrupted

The Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK) has stated that there are no issues with energy supply. While work continues on the new power plant tender and the electricity cable project from Turkey, the authority emphasized that public trust should not be swayed by smear campaigns circulating on social media.

In a statement responding to recent claims on social media, KIB-TEK assured the public that despite the coldest days of the year, there were no disruptions in energy supply, and necessary maintenance, repairs, and investments were continuing without interruption.
18% Increase in Energy Consumption
KIB-TEK highlighted that the maximum winter load, which was 380 MW last year, has risen to 456 MW this year. This 18% increase in energy demand was anticipated, and the necessary precautions were taken. Faulty power plants have been repaired, and new plants have been brought online. The energy supplier, AKSA, also increased its capacity to prevent any potential energy shortages in the region.
New Power Plant Tender and Cable Project from Turkey Progressing
The statement also mentioned that a new energy power plant tender would soon be issued in line with the country’s growth. The tender process is expected to be completed shortly, and new investments are ongoing. Additionally, the technical work for the cable project to bring electricity from Turkey is continuing without interruption.
Continuous Service with 24/7 Operations
KIB-TEK noted that the existing electricity network’s capacity has been increased, plant maintenance is regularly carried out, and fuel supply is uninterrupted. The authority also emphasized that teams are on-site 24/7 to respond to any local outages, ensuring rapid resolution of issues.
“Don’t Believe Smear Campaigns”
The statement also addressed the allegations targeting KIB-TEK on social media, labeling them as politically motivated. The public was urged not to be influenced by such smear campaigns. KIB-TEK assured that the public recognized and appreciated the authority's efforts, and it would continue to provide uninterrupted services.
