Various Events to Be Held Nationwide for International Women's Day

Various Events to Be Held Nationwide for International Women's Day

The United Nations Women (UN Women) has set the theme for International Women's Day 2025 as "For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, Empowerment."

The year 2025 also marks the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Adopted in 1995 by 189 governments, this declaration is considered the most comprehensive and progressive roadmap to secure the rights of women and girls.

Nationwide Events to Be Held

In celebration of International Women's Day, various events will take place throughout the country.

  • A seminar and drama workshop titled "Domestic Work and Beyond," organized in collaboration with HAksen and the Women's Education Collective, will begin today at 13:00.

  • Women from the Famagusta Culture Association and Klotho Organization will hold a joint event today at 15:30 at Famagusta Avenue Garage, Derinya, with contributions from the Social Struggle Platform.

  • At 19:00 today, a photography exhibition titled "The Voice of Women" by TOVAD will be opened at Bandabulya in Famagusta.

  • KTÖS and DAÜ-SEN will hold a panel on "Teachers and Politicians: Fighting for Equality and Against Discrimination" at KTÖS at 17:00 today. The panel will feature CTP Member of Parliament Doğuş Derya and Independent MP Ayşegül Baybars. The moderator will be Umut Bozkurt.

  • A painting exhibition titled "Here I Am" will be held today at 18:00 at the Saçaklı House in Nicosia.

  • At 20:00 today, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Presidential Symphony Orchestra will perform a concert at the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Rauf Raif Denktaş Cultural and Conference Center in Famagusta.

Tomorrow's Events

  • The Cyprus Turkish Women's Council Association will lay a wreath at the Atatürk Statue in Nicosia at 10:30. The ceremony aims to express respect for women’s role, labor, and struggle in social life.

  • The "Our Women Who Left a Mark 1" photo exhibition, organized by Yıltan Taşçı Academy, will open tomorrow at 11:00 at the M. Necati Özkan Exhibition Hall, Nicosia Art Center.

  • The Social Struggle Platform will also hold events for March 8. A book reading event organized by the Famagusta Culture Association will take place tomorrow at 14:00 at Desdemona Park. Following that, at 15:30, a "March 8th International Women's Day Solidarity March" will be held from Famagusta's Sulu Çember. At 17:00, Group Detay will perform a concert at Bandabulya.

  • An action with the slogan "Stubborn Against Exploitation, Hope for Peace" will take place at 15:00 tomorrow at Kumsal Park in Nicosia, organized by the March 8 Organization Committee.
