According to Daily Mail, Melega was brought to North Cyprus with the promise of a high-paying managerial position, but her passport was confiscated, and she was allegedly forced into prostitution.

Melega, who was married and the mother of a four-year-old child, was found dead at Prenses Nightclub in Alayköy. North Cyprus authorities recorded her death as a suicide, but human rights organizations have called for an official investigation.

HUMAN RIGHTS GROUPS CALL FOR A FULL INVESTIGATION

The report highlighted that eight human rights and women's organizations demanded a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Melega’s death and an inquiry into the responsibility of the nightclub management.

A joint statement from these organizations emphasized, "Human trafficking is a serious crime that requires comprehensive solidarity." It further stated, "Anastasia is not the first victim of these horrific conditions, and unfortunately, she may not be the last."

Various reports cited in the article alleged that Prenses Nightclub frequently operated as a brothel, with women employed under titles such as "hostesses."

Daily Mail described the situation as a "human rights violation," featuring statements from human rights organizations claiming that women working in the region are subjected to "psychological and/or physical violence, forced labor, and threats." The groups criticized the lack of action to address labor and sexual exploitation in such establishments.

RUSSIAN TELEGRAM CHANNEL BAD NEWS: “ANASTASIA’S PASSPORT WAS TAKEN, SHE WAS FORCED INTO PROSTITUTION”

The report also mentioned a claim from the Russian Telegram channel Bad News, which alleged that "Anastasia’s passport was taken, and she was forced into prostitution at the nightclub."

Daily Mail covered the story extensively under the headline: “‘Sex Slave’—24-Year-Old Married Mother Dies in Nightclub After Being Brought to Cyprus with Fake Job Offer” and suggested that Melega took her own life out of shame after being coerced into prostitution.
