Geneva Summit begins: UN Secretary-General’s dinner for delegation heads concludes

The informal Cyprus meeting, hosted by United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, has begun in Geneva.

The expanded informal meeting commenced at 19:00 Geneva time (20:00 Cyprus time) with a dinner hosted by the UN Secretary-General at the Intercontinental Hotel for the heads of delegations. The dinner lasted approximately one and a half hours.

Before the dinner, UN Secretary-General Guterres welcomed President Ersin Tatar, Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Christodoulides, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, and the UK's Minister of State for Europe and North America, Stephen Doughty, at the entrance.

The dinner was arranged with two separate tables. At the main table, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and his Deputy Rose Mary DiCarlo were joined by President Ersin Tatar, Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Christodoulides, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, and UK Minister Stephen Doughty.

At the second table, the leaders’ special representatives Güneş Onar and Menelaos Menelaou, UN Peacekeeping Mission Chief Colin Stewart, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Mehmet Kemal Bozay, the Greek Deputy Minister, and UK High Commissioner Michael Tatham were also present.
