Following the approval of the bills, the General Assembly concluded its discussions. The Assembly will convene again tomorrow at 10:00 for an oversight session.

Concerns Over Nursing and English Proficiency

During discussions on the Amended Law on the Department of Inpatient Treatment Institutions, CTP MP Filiz Besim emphasized the importance of English proficiency in nursing, particularly given the large number of foreign residents in the country. She highlighted issues faced by nurses, pointing to the removal of the transfer regulation as a factor contributing to insecurity and exhaustion among healthcare workers.

Health Minister Hakan Dinçyürek acknowledged the shortage of nurses and the importance of English proficiency in public healthcare. He noted that while major investments were being made in healthcare, staffing challenges persisted. Dinçyürek stated that most universities offering English-language nursing programs were attended by foreign students and stressed the need for reforms to address these issues.

Following the debates, the General Assembly held a third reading of the bills and unanimously approved them. The session then concluded.
