A- A A+

Speaking after a Cabinet meeting held yesterday, Erdoğan addressed recent economic fluctuations and the protests that erupted after İmamoğlu's arrest.

Economic Fluctuations and Measures Taken

Erdoğan stated that recent events had caused artificial fluctuations in the economy, adding, "We have successfully managed the latest market volatility by effectively utilizing the tools at our disposal. We have limited and made its effects temporary." He emphasized that they would not allow the achievements of the past two years, gained through the government's new economic program, to be undermined. Erdoğan also noted that the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Central Bank were working in full coordination.

Protests and Criticism of the Opposition

Addressing the nationwide protests sparked by İmamoğlu’s arrest, Erdoğan criticized the opposition, saying, "CHP’s reaction to the corruption operation, which disregards the law, has led to baseless artificial fluctuations in the economy as well as in other areas." He argued that the protests had turned into acts of violence and held the opposition responsible.

Turkey-Europe Relations and Foreign Policy

Erdoğan highlighted Turkey’s importance for European security, stating, "The heated debates in recent weeks have proven that European security is not possible without Turkey." He affirmed that Turkey was ready to advance relations with European countries and the EU on the basis of mutual respect.
