Traffic Accident in Famagusta, Lapta, and Beylerbeyi: 2 Arrested, 3 Injured
In separate traffic accidents that occurred yesterday in Famagusta, Lapta, and Beylerbeyi, two drivers were arrested for driving under the influence, and three people were injured.
According to the information provided by the Police Press Office, the first accident occurred around 7:00 AM in Beylerbeyi, on Boğaz Yolu Street.
Melik İskar (39), driving a VD 670 plate pickup truck, entered Zafer Street, which was a main road, without paying attention. At the same time, Muhammed Ensar DEMİR (23), driving a KG 327 plate sedan, who was speeding and driving recklessly under the influence of alcohol (75 milligrams), collided with the truck.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, Muhammed Ensar Demir, the driver of the KG 327 plate vehicle who was under the influence of alcohol, was arrested.
Motorcycle Rider Injured
The second accident took place around 7:50 AM in Lapta, on Şht. İsmail Beyoğlu Street.
Kadir YILDIRIM (24), riding a NG 744 plate motorcycle, failed to stop in time and collided with the rear of the car in front, driven by Kaan Dağyaran (34), who was going in the same direction.
As a result of the collision, the motorcycle swerved uncontrollably and crashed into the front right side of a YD 362 plate truck driven by Sıraç Ürün (29), who was coming from the opposite direction.
Kadir Yıldırım, the motorcycle rider, was taken to Lefkoşa Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital and later transferred to the Near East University Hospital, where he is under observation in the Intensive Care Unit.
Drunk Driver Arrested
The third accident occurred at around 11:15 PM in Famagusta, on İsmet İnönü Boulevard.
Savaş Madak (23), driving a YS 261 plate pickup truck while under the influence of 92 milligrams of alcohol, lost control of the vehicle while approaching the entrance of the DAÜ Dormitories. As a result, the vehicle overturned onto its left side.
The driver of the YS 261 plate vehicle, Savaş Madak, and his passenger, Atilla Şimşek (31), were lightly injured. They were treated at Famagusta State Hospital and discharged.
Savaş Madak, the driver who was under the influence of alcohol, was arrested following the accident.
The police investigation into the accidents is ongoing.
