Özersay Files Complaint Against Imam for Hate Speech

People's Party (HP) leader Kudret Özersay has filed a complaint with the police and the Attorney General’s Office over social media posts containing hate speech. Özersay also announced that a disciplinary investigation request had been submitted to the Religious Affairs Department regarding the controversial statements made by an imam.

In his statement, Özersay emphasized that their complaint included legal assessments based on the relevant provisions of the Criminal Code, requesting an official investigation.

He further noted that the party had formally approached the Religious Affairs Department, calling for disciplinary action against the imam whose remarks had sparked public outrage.

Referring to President Ersin Tatar’s call for the police and the Attorney General’s Office to take action, Özersay stated, “It was necessary to turn this into a concrete complaint. We took the necessary steps to ensure that these words do not go unanswered and will closely follow the process.”
