Toros: The Lack of Leadership in Cyprus is a Shortage of Willpower and Courage

Republican Turkish Party (CTP) MP Fikri Toros stated that the issue with leadership in Cyprus lies in the lack of will and courage, rather than any other problems.

Speaking on TV2020, Toros emphasized that the Cyprus negotiation process had been sacrificed to political disputes.
Toros explained, “In Cyprus, there is a simultaneous lack of will and courage among the leaders. There is no other problem,” and criticized the leaders for not acting with common sense but instead preferring to blame one another. He added that "any transition point, whether on the table or not, could easily be opened."
He pointed out the issues arising due to the inadequacy of existing crossing points, particularly stressing the need to open the Famagusta Gate in Nicosia, which would help alleviate congestion at Metehan. “There is a need for renovation here, but there is also existing infrastructure,” he said.
"The Pile Road and Mixed Marriage Issues Require Urgent Resolution"
Toros further emphasized that merely opening crossing points would not be sufficient. He stated that the Pile road issue needed to be resolved without delay and pointed out that the citizenship problem of children born from mixed marriages also required urgent attention.
