Volkan Konak Laid to Rest: His Last Wishes Fulfilled

Famous artist Volkan Konak, who passed away from a heart attack during a holiday concert in a hotel in İskele, was laid to rest today in his hometown of Trabzon after a funeral ceremony in Istanbul. Following the ceremony, Konak was buried under the walnut tree next to his father's grave, fulfilling his last wish.

The first ceremony for Konak was held in Istanbul, where a funeral prayer was conducted after the noon prayer at Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque in Levent. The event was attended by many of Konak’s fans and numerous celebrities.

His wife, Selma Konak, stood by his coffin, visibly overcome with grief. Her heartbreaking cry, "How could you do this to me, Volkan?" deeply moved everyone present.

Funeral Procession in Maçka

Konak’s body was brought to his hometown, Maçka, in Trabzon, where another ceremony was held at Maçka Merkez Mosque. The funeral was attended by Konak’s wife, children, and other family members, along with many prominent figures such as CHP leader Özgür Özel, Governor Aziz Yıldırım, Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç, and others, along with thousands of fans.

The large crowd caused a commotion, and a long line of vehicles formed on the Trabzon-Gümüşhane road as many people came to pay their respects.

Resting in Maçka

After the funeral prayer, Volkan Konak was laid to rest in the Güney Mahallesi of Maçka, according to his wishes, beneath a walnut tree beside his father’s grave.

A Heartfelt Farewell and a Special Request

It was revealed that three months ago, Konak had visited his father's grave and spent the night singing and crying by the grave, expressing his wish to be buried under the walnut tree near his father's resting place. This was the final wish that was honored today.
