Teachers' Unions to Hold Protest in Defense of Secular Education
The Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers’ Union (KTOEÖS) and the Cyprus Turkish Teachers’ Union (KTÖS) have announced that they will stage a protest in defense of secular education, with the support of nearly 40 organizations. Details of the demonstration will be disclosed at a press conference scheduled for tomorrow.
In a statement, KTOEÖS declared, “We will take to the streets and raise our voices against an approach that disregards secular education, our secular social structure, the education system, and societal values.”
Press Conference to Provide Further Details
The unions will hold a press conference tomorrow at 10:00 AM at the KTOEÖS headquarters in Nicosia to share details of the planned demonstration. Following the press conference, at 11:00 AM, KTOEÖS President and Secretary-General will file an official complaint with the Nicosia Police Department regarding threats made against them.
