According to a report by Haravgi, applications for the ETA can be submitted electronically or via a mobile application. To obtain the visa, travelers must have a valid passport, a recently taken passport-sized photo, and the ability to make an online payment using a credit or debit card.

The ETA will be valid for two years, but if the passport expires within this period, a new ETA must be obtained. Holders of this authorization will be able to enter the UK multiple times within the two-year validity period.

Although the UK Home Office aims for immediate approval, the process may take up to three days.

Application Fees and Requirements

  • Until April 9, the ETA will cost £10 (€12).

  • After this date, the fee will increase to £16 (€19).

  • The ETA will also be required for travelers staying in the UK for up to six months.

  • Those transiting through the UK and passing through border control for another flight will also need an ETA.

However, dual citizens and legal residents of the UK will be exempt from this requirement. This exemption also applies to EU citizens who settled in the UK post-Brexit.
