Tatar: Move to New Complex and Parliament on May 3 with Erdoğan

President Ersin Tatar announced that the official relocation to the newly built Presidential Complex and the new Parliament building will take place on May 3, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan scheduled to attend the ceremony.

Tatar made the announcement during the opening of the “Cyprus Doors and Chests Museum,” an initiative reflecting Turkish Cypriot culture and history, organised under the auspices of the Presidency and led by First Lady Sibel Tatar. The museum is located in the Mücahitler Site in Nicosia and is the second museum to open in the former Turkish Resistance Organisation (TMT) building.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, President Tatar praised the contribution of the Republic of Turkey to the development of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, expressing gratitude for its institutional support over the years.
President Tatar described the new museum as a valuable cultural achievement that showcases traditional Cypriot doors and chests, highlighting the legacy left behind by various civilisations throughout the island’s history. He noted that preserving this cultural heritage is vital and thanked his wife Sibel Tatar for her leadership in the project.
He also emphasized the collective effort of artists, educators, and cultural advocates in bringing the museum to life, noting that it required significant time and dedication.
President Tatar underscored the importance of passing on such cultural treasures to future generations and preserving them as part of the world’s cultural heritage. He added that the government’s investment in cultural projects reflects its commitment to heritage preservation and contributes to the international recognition of the TRNC.
Concluding his speech, Tatar reiterated the strong role of Turkey in supporting the TRNC and officially declared that the transition to the new Presidential and Parliamentary premises will occur on May 3, in the presence of President Erdoğan.
