No Classes Held in Classroom with Headscarf-Wearing Student at Bekirpaşa High School

At Bekirpaşa High School, in İskele, no lessons were held in a classroom where a student attended wearing a headscarf.

Selma Eylem, President of the Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers' Union (KTOEÖS), stated in an interview with Kıbrıs Postası, "Society has expressed its will regarding secularism. The legal and action-based struggle will continue."
Eylem explained that a student wearing a headscarf attended Bekirpaşa High School, and as a result, lessons were not conducted in that particular classroom. She further emphasized that the struggle would continue both legally and through actions.
Noting that society had shown its commitment to secularism, Eylem reiterated that the fight would persist until the government is replaced. "The government does not represent the people," she added, mentioning that they would hold a meeting with organizations today.
