Turkish Airlines (THY) has launched flights with its second wide-body Boeing 777 aircraft to Ercan Airport. The new aircraft will operate weekly flights between Istanbul and Ercan.

The Boeing 777, one of THY's wide-body aircraft, landed at Ercan Airport this morning. THY continues to increase the number of wide-body aircraft operating to Ercan.
According to an announcement from T&T Airport Operations, THY started wide-body flights to Ercan on November 1, 2023, with the Airbus A350, which has a capacity of 329 passengers. Today, at 09:13, the Boeing 777, with a capacity of 349 passengers, also began its operations.
The flight, TK 960, was welcomed with a traditional water salute, as reported.
Pınar Ayvaz Arıkan, Turkish Airlines Cyprus Manager, along with officials from the Civil Aviation Directorate and T&T Airport Operations, greeted the flight. The Boeing 777 has a capacity of 49 business class seats and 300 economy class seats, and will operate on Saturdays between Istanbul and Ercan.
The statement also mentioned that with the lengthening of the runway at the new Ercan Airport to 3,000 meters, more wide-body aircraft can land, leading to an increase in passenger numbers, benefiting the tourism and economy of the country.
