Simon Aykut Case Postponed to May 3: Additions Made to Witness List

In the case of Simon Aykut, the indictment was updated; 102 of the charges were amended, and 12 more witnesses were added to the list. The trial has been postponed to May 3.

In the latest hearing of Simon Aykut, who is facing charges of "seizing" former Greek Cypriot properties in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, changes were made to the indictment, and 12 additional witnesses were added to the prosecution’s list.
According to Cyprus Times, 102 of the 242 charges against Aykut were amended due to a new assessment of the market value of the affected former Greek Cypriot properties by the Greek Cypriot Land Registry, with some property values being increased.
The defense did not object to either request made by the prosecution. Aykut's lawyer, Maria Neofitu, requested time from the court to review the added evidence and to seek advice on the changes to the indictment.
The next court date has been set for May 3, 2025, at 09:15 AM, according to the President of the Greek Cypriot Criminal Court, Hristiana Parpota.
