Zeki Çeler’s Response to Insults Against Cypriots: Know Your Place, Mind Your Manners!
TDP (Social Democracy Party) leader Zeki Çeler pointed out that insulting Cypriots on social media has become a trend for some, urging them to “Know your place! Mind your manners! Don’t fall for the games of the politicians feeding you, as you may find yourself alone someday.”
In a personal social media post, Çeler stated that for some, insulting Cypriots on social media had become fashionable. He emphasized the disrespect shown by people who live, work, and eat in Cyprus but have no respect for its land or people, often failing to understand the island.
He said, “Their numbers may not be large, but they are truly nauseating. I pity those who call Cypriot Turks dogs, bastards, or shout ‘who are you?’ at us.”
Çeler continued, criticizing these immature individuals who interpret politics and daily life with their underdeveloped minds and juvenile attitudes.
“Friends, this land is not just a strategic piece of land, nor is it a forward post, nor is it a place you can demean with your mental narrowness. Get this into your head!” he said.
He stressed the value of Cyprus and its people, stating, “With your insults, we will neither abandon this land nor bow our heads to fate. Know your place! Mind your manners! Don’t fall for the games of the politicians feeding you, as you may find yourself alone one day.”
