Speaking during a meeting with delegations from the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB) and the Cyprus Turkish Travel Agencies Association (KITSAB), Ataoğlu stated, “We strive to promote and explain the TRNC all over the world.”

The meeting took place as part of the Tourism Gathering in IslandCyprus event, jointly organised by the Deputy Prime Ministry, Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment, KITSAB, and TÜRSAB. The event is hosting 249 participants from TÜRSAB, including its president, board members, regional representatives, journalists, and organisers of specialised, alternative, and cultural tours, who are currently in the TRNC from 13 to 17 April 2025.

During their visit, participants will take part in tailored tours focusing on culture, activities, experiences, hiking, nature, gastronomy, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions), allowing them to explore the island more closely—from the Karpas Peninsula to Lefka.

Addressing the visiting delegations, Ataoğlu emphasised the importance of encouraging more Turkish citizens to visit the TRNC. “If even a portion of the 15% of Turkey’s 85 million population who travel were to visit the TRNC, it would create a significant potential for our country,” he said, highlighting that a comprehensive promotional campaign had been launched following meetings with TÜRSAB and KITSAB representatives.

He also noted the recent collaboration between social media influencers from both Turkey and the TRNC, aimed at showcasing the country’s natural beauty, historical heritage, gastronomy, and culture.

“Our aim with these promotional events is to introduce the TRNC to our brothers and sisters living in Turkey and to host each of them at least once in the TRNC,” Ataoğlu said. “I would like to thank the TÜRSAB and KITSAB teams, who are working with us toward this goal.”

Ataoğlu concluded his remarks with an invitation: “Let this be a message to our brothers and sisters in the Republic of Turkey—our bonds of brotherhood grow stronger by the day. I invite all of you to visit the TRNC, because the TRNC is not something to be explained, but to be experienced.”

The meeting ended with an exchange of gifts and a commemorative photo.
