Çeler: We May Be in Different Political Lanes, But We Will Not Accept Insults

Zeki Çeler, leader of the Communal Democracy Party (TDP), reacted strongly to the controversial remarks made by Oktay Saral, Chief Advisor to the President of Turkey, stating that even though they may differ politically, they will not accept insults directed at Prime Minister Ünal Üstel. Çeler also called on Üstel to join him in lighting a protest fire in front of the Assembly.

In a statement shared on social media, Çeler condemned Saral’s comments and invited not only Üstel but also his supporters to gather in front of the Assembly to protest against the offensive language.
His statement read:
“We Invite Ünal Üstel to Join Us in Lighting the Protest Fire in Front of the Assembly Tonight”
“As we call for relations between Turkey and the TRNC to be conducted with dignity and integrity, if you choose instead to manage them through a chain of command, what you’ll get in return are insults from mediocrity.
Even though we are on different sides politically, we do not and will not accept the insult directed at Üstel!
We are inviting Üstel to join us in front of the Assembly this evening. In fact, we are inviting not only him but also his supporters.
Come and contribute to elevating the relationship between the two countries to a more respectful level.
Take a stand against impositions, insults, and humiliation.
Because if the snake you hoped would not bite you has shown its tongue, the bite may be near.”
