Gürcafer: "An Unprecedented Act of Diplomatic Indiscipline"

Gürcafer stated that Saral's audacity to denigrate the Turkish Cypriot people at the highest level represented a breach of diplomatic conduct never before seen, and emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot community expects appropriate consequences to follow.

In his statement, Gürcafer remarked:

“Diplomacy is a sub-discipline of history that focuses on relations between states. Officials involved in diplomatic relations make every effort to remain within the bounds of this discipline. The nature of the relationship between the Republic of Turkey and the TRNC is well understood by both peoples as one of deep and close ties. In this context, it is unprecedented for someone who holds the position of Chief Advisor to the President of Turkey to dare insult the Turkish Cypriots in such a manner. This act has caused outrage among the Turkish Cypriot community. The Turkish Cypriots now expect the necessary action to be taken in response to this unacceptable behavior.”
