Speaking under the banner "Protecting the Nation’s Will," Özel questioned, “How can those we’ve been expecting to recognise the TRNC turn around and recognise South Cyprus instead?” He warned that his party would not remain silent in the face of what he described as a major diplomatic failure.

Özel pointed to a recent meeting in Samarkand between the EU and Turkic states as evidence of this policy collapse, noting that South Cyprus was recognised while the TRNC was ignored. He singled out Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan for establishing embassies in South Cyprus, calling it “the bankruptcy of Turkish foreign policy.”
