Reports had suggested that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan acted on information about corruption, bribery, executions, and missing tapes allegedly held by Falyalı, and that Yasin Ekrem Serim was sent to Cyprus to retrieve them. The claims further alleged that some of the tapes were delivered to Ankara, while Serim withheld five tapes for himself, leading to his dismissal.

The Directorate categorically denied these claims, stating: “The so-called dialogue and allegations in the reports are entirely fictional.” It emphasised that the reported conversation between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Serim never took place and dismissed the entire narrative as fabricated.
