“We are going through a critical period for our state and our people. Unity within UBP is essential for the country. If we achieve this, there will be no obstacle we cannot overcome,” Taçoy said in a written statement.

Highlighting UBP as a large and well-established party, Taçoy argued that UBP’s only rival on the path to serving the country is itself. He described the party as “national, indigenous, and the core of the Turkish Cypriot people,” and reiterated that its goal is to maintain strong ties with Turkey, adhere to Atatürk’s principles, and ensure peace, security, and prosperity for the people.

“Everyone knows that the foundation of our state bears UBP’s seal. It is evident that all major developments in our country occurred under governments led by UBP in cooperation with Turkey,” he said.

Acknowledging occasional internal issues within the party, Taçoy stated, “We are UBP. When the time comes, we set differences aside, unite, and stand together.”

Taçoy also pointed to attacks targeting the state, the nation, Turkey, and UBP, and said the reactions from UBP’s grassroots in response to these attacks clearly show that it is time for national unity. “I expressed these views sincerely during yesterday’s UBP Parliamentary Group meeting, and I was pleased to see that everyone shared the same sentiment,” he noted.

Referring to upcoming discussions and decisions following the party leader and Prime Minister’s visit to Ankara, Taçoy said, “We will continue our meetings and take the necessary decisions and actions.”

Taçoy concluded his statement by reaffirming his commitment to the party, saying, “As a UBP member who began political work by putting up posters and later served as Youth Branch Chair, District Chair, Secretary-General, MP, and Minister, I want to stress that I will fully carry out whatever duties fall upon me for the sake of our unity, our services, and our continued success.”
