Woman Arrested in Kyrenia for Cheque Fraud
A woman in Kyrenia has been arrested for fraudulently reporting company cheques as lost after using them to make payments.
The 48-year-old suspect, identified only as Ü.D., allegedly issued five cheques of varying amounts on behalf of a company for which she held power of attorney. She reportedly gave the cheques to another company in exchange for services.
In an attempt to prevent the cheques from being cashed, Ü.D. falsely reported to police on April 9 that the cheques had been lost. Authorities determined that her claims were fabricated and that she had committed fraud to manipulate official records.
She was subsequently arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
