Teacher Unions' Lawsuit Against Disciplinary Regulation Postponed to May 15

The lawsuit filed by two teacher unions against the amendments made to the Disciplinary Regulation at the Constitutional Court has been postponed to May 15.

The first hearing of the lawsuit filed by the Cyprus Turkish Teachers' Union (KTÖS) and the Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers' Union (KTOEÖS) against the changes made to the Disciplinary Regulation was held today, and the case has been postponed to May 15.
The hearing was conducted under the presidency of Bertan Özerdağ, President of the Constitutional Court and the High Court, with Lawyer Öncel Polili representing the teacher unions.
POLİLİ'S STATEMENT
After the hearing, Lawyer Öncel Polili made a statement in front of the courts. He noted that today’s session was the first day for the interim order request related to the Disciplinary Regulation lawsuit.
Polili mentioned that the prosecution had requested some time to file an objection to the interim order request and stated that the case had been postponed to May 15.
He added, “The prosecution has stated its intention to file a defense not only against the interim order but also regarding the merits of the case. If a defense is filed regarding the merits of the case, it is highly likely that a hearing on the substance of the case, rather than the interim order request, will take place sooner, and a final decision will be made.”
UNIONS' STATEMENTS
KTOEÖS President Selma Eylem stated that they would be back in court on May 15.
KTÖS General Secretary Burak Maviş also claimed that none of the ministers who made this decision had "the face to come to court."
