Tatar: Our Presence on This Land Is Permanent!

President Ersin Tatar declared that the newly inaugurated Presidential Complex symbolizes the sovereignty of the Turkish Cypriot people, stating, “Our presence on this land is permanent.” Tatar emphasized that local firms played a role in every stage of the complex’s construction. The complex, completed after nearly three years of work, is being officially opened with a ceremony.

Speaking at the complex's conference hall under the slogan “Strong State, Honorable Future,” Tatar followed addresses by Speaker of the TRNC Assembly Ziya Öztürkler and Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş.
Tatar began by stating that they had delivered another lasting institution to the state and the people. Emphasizing that this was a moment in which sovereignty had taken tangible form, Tatar recalled a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on 15 November 2020, during which they were unable to hold a press conference due to rain at the old presidential building. Following that meeting, they decided to construct a new Presidential Complex.
He explained that they identified a suitable site and presented it to Erdoğan, eventually reaching an agreement on building a national park alongside the complex. Tatar added that the project was expanded to include a high court, a mosque, sports facilities, and a national park. He highlighted the contribution of Turkish Cypriot firms to every aspect of the project, stating, “Our presence on this land is permanent.”
Tatar concluded his remarks by extending his gratitude to President Erdoğan and other Turkish officials.
