Azerbaijan on Wednesday voiced concern over escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, condemning New Delhi's recent military strikes on Pakistani territory.

“We condemn military attacks against the Islamic Republic of Pakistan that killed and injured several civilians,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Expressing solidarity with Pakistan, the ministry conveyed condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

“We call on all parties to exercise restraint and to resolve the conflict through diplomatic means,” it added.

India late Tuesday said it launched "Operation Sindoor," hitting nine "terrorist infrastructure" sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

Pakistan’s military said India targeted six locations and at least 26 people were killed and 46 others injured in the strikes and cross-border firing along the Line of Control, the de facto border between the two countries.

The escalation between the nuclear-armed neighbors comes in the wake of the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, in which 26 people were killed.

India blamed Pakistan for the attack, claiming there were cross-border links. Pakistan has denied involvement and offered a neutral probe.
