116 Vehicles Taken Off the Road During Simultaneous Traffic Inspections Across Four Districts

According to a statement from the Police Press Office, the inspections took place between 22:00 and 02:00 under the jurisdiction of the respective district police departments.

Nicosia:
Out of 1,082 drivers checked, 100 were cited for speeding, 6 for using mobile phones while driving, 17 for not wearing seatbelts, 33 for driving without a valid road tax certificate, 8 for operating uninspected vehicles, 6 for lacking insurance, 1 for failing to obey traffic lights, and 82 for other violations. A total of 40 vehicles were removed from circulation.

Kyrenia:
In Kyrenia, 1,727 drivers were stopped. Offenses included speeding (100), drunk driving (9), driving without a license and insurance (1), not wearing a seatbelt (3), lacking insurance (16), and failing to obey police orders (2). An additional 192 were cited for other offenses. In total, 23 vehicles were taken off the road.

Morphou:
A total of 750 drivers were checked. Among them, 96 were speeding, 1 was driving under the influence, 2 were driving without a license and insurance, 8 were not wearing seatbelts, and 2 had no insurance. Legal proceedings were initiated against all offenders.

İskele:
Of the 1,020 drivers checked, 99 were speeding, 5 were under the influence, 1 was unlicensed and uninsured, 1 was using a phone while driving, 4 were not wearing seatbelts, 35 were driving vehicles without valid road tax, 12 had uninspected vehicles, and 2 lacked insurance. Another 45 were cited for various other offenses. A total of 49 vehicles were taken off the road in İskele.
