13 Fires and 33 Special Service Incidents in a Week

Between May 5 and 11, 13 fires and 33 special service incidents occurred, according to the Police General Directorate.

The fires resulted in damages amounting to 1 million TL. The causes of the fires were varied: 4 fires due to electrical short circuits, 3 caused by improperly disposed cigarette butts, 3 from spontaneous combustion of rolled hay bales, 1 from leaking fuel in a vehicle engine igniting, 1 from oil overheating in a fryer, and 2 from intentional burning.

The distribution of the fires across regions was as follows: Nicosia (3), Kyrenia (2), Famagusta (2), Geçitkale (2), Morphou (2), Vadili (1), and Famagusta (1).

The special service incidents included: rescuing cats trapped in vehicle engines and shop roofs, rescuing a dog trapped in a bicycle and a well, rescuing a lamb from a well, saving individuals trapped in elevators and vehicles after traffic accidents, and transporting deceased individuals to the hospital for autopsy.

The distribution of these incidents across regions was: Nicosia (15), Kyrenia (7), Famagusta (4), Morphou (3), Famagusta (2), Geçitkale (1), and Yeşilköy (1).
