Three Traffic Accidents in Kyrenia and Famagusta, Two Pedestrians Injured, One Arrested

Three separate traffic accidents occurred in Kyrenia and Famagusta over the past two days, leaving two pedestrians injured and one driver under arrest, according to a police statement.

In Famagusta early this morning, 19-year-old Mehmet Sariler lost control of his EK 325 vehicle near Hasan Debreli Motors and crashed into a parked RE 459 vehicle belonging to the same business. The impact caused a chain reaction, damaging two additional parked cars. No injuries were reported. Sariler was arrested for driving without insurance and causing an accident.

In Kyrenia at around 1:00 a.m. today, a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Mehmet Şanverdi struck 18-year-old pedestrian Aya Zaıtounı, who was under the influence of 105 milligrams of alcohol while crossing the road. Zaıtounı was taken to Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital for treatment.

In a separate incident yesterday in Kyrenia, a motorcycle driven by Mehmet Yavaş (32) hit 72-year-old Hüseyin Erçağıl as he was attempting to cross the road. Erçağıl suffered a broken right arm and is under observation in the Orthopedics Department of Kyrenia Dr. Akçiçek Hospital.

Police investigations into all three accidents are ongoing.
